When it comes to building a Squidoo lens, many people think that it’s easy to do and fast to build. In many respects this may be true; however, in order to do it in a way that continuously attracts visitors is a horse of a whole other color. When building a lens, it’s like writing a story or book. The question becomes, will this lens be useful and attract readers over the long haul.

Building a lens that is useful, a resource and one that allows the owner to build trust, takes a lot longer than slapping together a lens in 5-10 minutes. It takes thought, passion, expert knowledge and perserverence. So, you may have passion and be expert with no lack of tenacity - however, let’s look at knowledge.

There are two kinds of knowledge necessary to build a lens with longevity - knowledge of the subject and knowledge to build a lens that is inviting, pleasing to the eye and easy to follow.

The author lists a step-by-step system that covers five essential steps to building monetized but not over hyped Squidoo lenses that any Squidoo blog would be proud to promote. It goes indepth on how the Squidoo process works from search engines to adding modules that will follow the natural flow of the lens and offer affiliate products and services.

At the heart of the Web 2.0 phenomena is the affiliate marketer always on the lookout for something that will allow him or her to sell their products and services without insulting or bombarding their readership. Squidoo Cash Machine shows how to do this.

On the flip side, if a lensmaster has no interest in selling anything, just building a lens that is all about his or her passion, hobby or craft, this book covers so much in terms of HTML and CSS, the way to put together a lens for maximum appeal and the facets of Squidoo that are usually overlooked to get the lens free promotion and a way to go to the top of the Squidoo ranking structure.

Having built over 50 Squidoo lenses over the past few months, I am a hybrid. I build some lenses as simply affiliate marketing platforms to present new and interesting products that people might want to purchase. I also build an equal number of lenses around things I love, like and find interesting that I want to share with the world. These latter lenses aren’t particularly monetized beyond the usual Squidoo methods, and aren’t affiliated with any vendor or commission structure.

Squidoo Cash Machine, I found, is designed to work whether or not I’m building an affiliate marketing Squidoo lens or a regular lens.  Either way, it has helped me to get more sales, find more people and make all of Squidoo lenses much better quickly and easily.

While Squidoo Cash Machine is geared towards the affiliate marketing arena, it is definitely a fantastic resource for any kind of lensmaster from newbie to veteran. I give it 5 out of 5 stars for an excellent piece of work.
